For over 9 years, I have utilized dance as a vehicle to set students up for success across their academic careers while instilling creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. Through partner social dances, street and Afro Latin forms, theater arts, and contemporary techniques, I build trust and community in the classroom while being in alliance with each unique group of students.
My Teaching Artist methodology aims to build safe and dynamic containers to celebrate identity, impart cultural learning, tell stories, and integrate art & activism while demonstrating proficient artistic standards throughout K-12 schools, performing arts high schools, colleges and universities, and community centers. I take each residency as an opportunity to facilitate students accomplishing shared goals and achieving excellence in each stage of learning, researching, rehearsing, and performing.
My pedagogy is influenced by deep study and several years practice with Pierre Dulaine’s Dulaine Method, Yes! And…Collaborative Arts, National Dance Institute, BuildaBridge International, and the Bartol Foundation. My professional history includes organizational roles as Senior Teaching Artist, Program Manager, and Program Artistic Director. I am a bilingual Spanish speaker, passionate about arts programming in Latinx and Spanish immersion schools that affirms and celebrates the prominence of dance in Latin American culture.
With a proven track record of successful and joy filled project outcomes, I bring a distinct and reputable sense of presence, empathy, adaptability, efficiency, and interpersonal drive across teaching and program coordinating, making it my goal to resource students and program staff alike while preserving the integrity of project goals and organizational vision.
